We started off the day with, surprise! A run! The annual Turkey Trot is a 10K (6.2 miles) race that takes place at the Sparks Marina each year on Thanksgiving morning. Last year was the first time we did this race and we were really excited that it gave us the opportunity to eat as much as we wanted to and not worry about it. With all the running we have been doing this year I did not have the same feeling. I was thinking, “only 6 miles, I better take it easy at dinner tonight!”. Andy, my dad, Nagisa and I were all ready to score our best 10K times and, with all the training, we did just that! At the start of the race Andy got a spurt of energy and I didn’t see him again until the race was over. Luckily he ran into (not literally) our friend TJ and was able to run with him for half of the race. I stuck with my friend, Nagisa. She has practically been my training partner for the whole year (Andy decided to take a break mid-summer) and we are good at keeping each other motivated and running at about the same pace. Check out our results compared to last year’s:

A t first I was a little dissapointed with my time because I wanted to do it under 50 minutes, but then I realized that a 10K is actually 6.2 miles so I was ok with that. Especially since my time last year was 55:54.
After the race it was time to relax! We headed over to my parents house where we had a great breakfast (grandma’s cinnamon rolls!) and hung out until it was time for my friends and the rest of the family to arrive.
It’s too bad that we don’t have any pictures of the race…mom, but here are some from how the evening went…
