We spent two days in the Champagne region in a little village called Verzenay. The region here is like the wine country in California, but they do real Champagne. We found that to make Champagne here, you have to abide by certain regulations each year and can only produce so much. That’s why Champagne is so expensive.
The place we stayed at was an airbnb that was associated with one of the champaigneries, Arnould de Beaufort . It was a neat place with a jacuzzi. The town itself included a bar and a small grocery, but that was it. So, our stay included a lot of rest and champagne. We also explored the town’s lighthouse which was built as a symbol for one of the champagneries.
I also was able to get a four mile run to the neighboring village. It was a nice jog among the grape vines. And now were trecking back go Amsterdam for our final leg. We have about a six hour drive ahead of us.
