Last year we had planned to move into our new house for the first time after coming back from our wedding in Costa Rica. We had originally bought the house at the end of March 2008, but we decided to gut the entire house to make it our home. For the next four months we worked on the house every day. Balancing the wedding planning, the house projects, and the new jobs, this was definitely an interesting time for us.
The day before we left to Costa Rica, we had scheduled three major things to be done to make the house livable while we were gone. Our countertops were to be installed in the kitchen. The master bathroom counters, shower, and guest bathroom counters were to be tiled. (We had already tiled the guest bathroom.) And the plumbing for everything was to be hooked up.
When we returned back to the States from Costa Rica, specifically in Atlanta, we got a voice message from Lisa explaining that our masonry person that bailed out on us. The sad thing is that we personally knew the guy, and he left us hanging for a better job. Way to go Travis.
Either way, we got back into our house, our countertops had been installed a few hours prior to us arriving. And since these jobs were backed up, our general contractor didn’t have time to install any plumbing.
Needless to say, we camped out in the house for that first week. We showered in the guest bathroom and washed our hands in the garage. And so here’s a look at where we started and what we’ve accomplished in the past sixteen months with our ongoing house projects that are never ending
